Basseterre, Saint Kitts, April 18, 2026 (PMO) — In response to a recent uptick in criminal activity, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis and Minister of National Security, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew convened an urgent high-level meeting with the Commissioner of Police, the Commander of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defense Force, and other senior members of the security forces.
The meeting, held at the Office of the Prime Minister at Government Headquarters, April 18th, lasted approximately two and a half hours and focused on a comprehensive review of the current security landscape. Prime Minister Drew was fully briefed on ongoing operations, intelligence assessments, and the strategic measures being implemented to address and contain the situation.
The Honourable Minister reiterated the Government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the Federation and emphasized that all necessary resources remain available to support the efforts of the security forces. He underscored that law enforcement agencies are actively engaged and coordinated in their response, with targeted strategies aimed at maintaining public safety and order.The Ministry affirms that the situation is being addressed with urgency, precision, and professionalism.
While acknowledging public concern, the Minister assured citizens and residents that the security apparatus remains fully mobilized and capable.The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force continues to encourage members of the public to play their part by providing any information that may assist ongoing investigations.
