As part of ongoing efforts to safeguard public health, the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis
continues to closely monitor the evolving situation with the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease
(EVD) and strengthen preparedness measures to reduce the risk of Ebola entering the Federation
of St. Kitts and Nevis.
The Ministry of Health advises the public that, based on the latest updates from the Africa
Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and
Prevention, several countries have been identified as high-risk areas for Ebola Virus Disease
(EVD) transmission and/or importation.
The African countries identified are as follows:
- The Democratic Republic of Congo
- Uganda
- The Central African Republic
- Angola
- Burundi
- Ethiopia
- Kenya
- Rwanda
- South Sudan
- Tanzania
- Zambia
- Nigeria
The Ministry of National Security and the Ministry of Health strongly advise nationals of the
Federation to carefully reconsider and, where possible, avoid non-essential travel to the above-
mentioned countries given the current public health risks associated with Ebola Virus Disease(EVD).
Additionally, travelers arriving from countries identified as high-risk for Ebola transmission or
importation may be denied entry into the Federation. This temporary measure is being
implemented to protect public health and reduce the risk of the importation of Ebola virus.
The Ministry of National Security, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and
regional and international partners, continues to strengthen border surveillance and enhance
national preparedness measures aimed at safeguarding the health and safety of all residents and
visitors. The public is assured that proactive steps are being taken to reduce the risk of Ebola
entering the Federation and to ensure a coordinated and effective public health response.
