Basseterre, Saint Kitts, June 26, 2026 (SKNIS): Prime Minister, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, has shared his vision for the future of Saint Kitts and Nevis over the next decade, describing a nation transformed by sustainability, innovation, economic opportunity, and social progress.
Responding to a question during the June 25 edition of The Roundtable about what milestone would signify the successful realisation of the Sustainable Island State Agenda (SISA), Prime Minister Drew said his greatest aspiration is to leave behind a country that is stronger, more resilient, and better equipped to meet the needs of future generations.
“Looking back, if I project 10 years into the future, when I am out of politics and I reflect, I think we’ll have a country that is 100 percent renewable energy, and energy in Saint Kitts will be extremely cheap,” the prime minister said.
Dr. Drew also envisioned a nation with reliable access to water, advanced digital services that allow citizens to conduct most aspects of daily life online, and greater food security through increased local production.
“I look forward to when there will be food security. We don’t have to depend on ships coming in from overseas. We’ll be able to produce enough food here for our people,” he stated.
Beyond infrastructure and sustainability, Prime Minister Drew emphasised the importance of empowering citizens economically by creating opportunities to build generational wealth.
“I look forward to our people having the opportunities to grow wealth—not just depend on a salary—but understand how stocks work, how bonds work, how investments work, so that they can grow wealth while they are sleeping,” Dr. Drew said.
He also expressed his hope for a society where gang involvement is no longer attractive to young people, where education continues to advance, and where citizens place greater value on both their physical and mental well-being.
Prime Minister Drew said these are the outcomes he believes the Sustainable Island State Agenda can deliver over the next five to ten years, creating a lasting legacy of resilience, prosperity, and opportunity for all citizens of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
