Basseterre, Saint Kitts, April 17, 2026 (SKNIS): The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis and iSTEAM, The Academy of Arts and Sciences, have formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that commits the youth-led agency to advance community development initiatives.
A signing ceremony was held on Wednesday (April 15) at the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Ageing, and Disabilities. Minister of State, the Honourable Isalean Phillip, signed the MOU on behalf of the government, while Clilia Davis, Managing Director of iSteam, signed for the non-governmental organisation.
The agreement formally commits iSteam to continue its partnership with the ministry in support of the Saddlers Home for the Elderly. The group regularly engages with the residents at the Home through positive intergenerational activities, and has donated various supplies, personal gifts and more.
Minister of State Philip thanked the members of the youth-led organisation for its willingness to enter into the MOU to help enrich the lives of seniors.
“Across the ministries that I manage, partnerships are a really big aspect of the work that we do in terms of partnering with the community and other government agencies,” she stated. “And so, the fact that other people are recognising the work that we do, and the investments that we are making into vulnerable groups, which in turn encourages them to want to come out and offer support … is very good to see.”
Honourable Phillip added that this MOU is even more meaningful as it is in line with the ministry’s goal of strengthening intergenerational engagement to foster a culture where young people can “take care of and learn” from seniors.
“Ms. Davis has always been a leader in that regard, and so we really commend her and her organisation iSteam for the work that they do with young people but also with seniors within our communities,” she said.
The agreement underscores the power of partnerships in driving positive social impact and enhancing the well-being of vulnerable groups.
