Basseterre, Saint Kitts, August 15, 2025 (SKNIS): The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis is aware of recent rumours claiming that the Prime Minister has the authority to unilaterally decide whether Nevis proceeds with development projects under the Special Sustainability Zone Authorisation Bill, 2025, which was successfully passed on August 11. The law clearly stipulates that any development proposed for Nevis must receive the explicit approval of the Premier and the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) before it can proceed.
